Latest News Hassocks Ladies FC - winners of the Chairmans Cup 2009/10
ABOUT THE TEAM

Hassocks Ladies formed in at the beginning of the 1999/2000 season as Southdown Girls U14's before moving up to U15's when they won the Legaue and Cup double.

The next season saw them move up to Ladies Football which was in the days that 14 years olds could play at ladies level. They worked their way up through the Divisions from Division 3 South to their current position in the Premier Division and will be entering their sixth successive season in the Premier Division which is something not all clubs can boast.

2008/09 was their most successful season to that point finishing third and having the satisfaction of the two teams finishing above them failing to be able to beat Hassocks in the League. The Club also recorded its highest ever points total.

2009/10 in League terms was very difficult because of the number of new players coming in and the lack of games caused by the weather and defaulting clubs meaning the team not having as much practice as they would have liked. There were also a number of double header games which are always a lottery. Due to lack of time they were also unable to fiulfil all their fixtures. They did however win the Chairmans Cup beating Long Lane 1-0 which followed after a gruelling 120 minute semi final battle against Anchorians. So a cup win made up for the stop and start League season and once again demonstrated Hassocks year on year sustained progress.

Team selection is wholly impartial and based on fielding the strongest possible side every week with players who have demonstrated their form in matches and in training sessions but a player's regular attendance also plays a part in deciding upon team selection.

The head coach and/or Chairman will always make themselves available for a one to one chat with any player who may have concerns.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
